Rob joined Summit Financial as a partner in September of 2006 and has 26 years of experience working independently in the financial services industry. He brings his knowledge to his clients in an enthusiastic package.
Rob holds a Certified Financial Planner designation, (C.F.P. 2005), and a Chartered Life Underwriter designation (CLU 2020) which is an advanced tax and estate planning designation. He is a proud member and Volunteer of Advocis –the Financial Advisors Association of Canada.

Rob's Involvement in Vernon
Rob is an active volunteer in Vernon. “I come from a rural Saskatchewan community and those roots have helped to shape my beliefs. I believe it is important to contribute to your community, to make it a better place for everyone who lives there. I love sports, and helping kids and families stay active, while learning to love physical activity just seems to be a natural way for me to help.” Rob proudly holds a degree in Kinesiology from the University of Saskatchewan. He has dedicated thousands of hours to sport in BC through active coaching and coach training.
Rob is passionate about hockey and golf, and loves to cross country ski, fish, vegetable garden etc. But if you know Rob, you know that he is always game to try any new activity you introduce him to. Rob is a long-time member of the Kalamalka Rotary Club, and a member of the Board of the Vernon Golf and Country Club.
Ilona Nelson

Ilona joined Summit Financial in 2019 and has steadily grown into her role as advisor. She is licensed to provide you with advice in terms of investments (mutual funds and segregated funds) and insurance needs, whether this be life insurance or accident and sickness insurance. Helping families discover what their financial needs are, really fills her cup.
Rob and Ilona have been working together since 2021 and will do so until Rob decides to retire. As Rob’s business partner, She is happy to assist clients with all investment and insurance questions and she is looking forward to building strong connections with her own clients.
She recently took over the clients for Elanda Kowalchuk, who recently retired. She is excited to continue being the financial resource Elanda has been for them. When not in the office, days are filled with adventures with her husband and 2 kids, no matter the season. Exploring, hiking, camping, paddle boarding and lake time are prominent in Ilona’s summers. In the off season, She's an active member of the Armstrong Pickleball Club.

Outside of work, she’s a proud mom to two very active children who keep her on her toes and bring endless energy to her life. Balancing her professional growth with motherhood, she finds joy in both roles and brings that same passion and dedication into everything she does.
